Wally Smith is a retired civil servant who has enjoyed writing for many years, especially poetry and short stories. Since joining a local writing group, www.sloughwriters.org.uk , he has also tried his hand at article and playwriting with some success. He started writing in his teenage years, inspired by the likes of Roger McGough, a fellow Liverpudlian, Seamus Heaney and Ted Hughes. He has found that writing requires hours in isolation which probably accounts for his three divorces! Wally won November's bonusround: a letter writing contest.
